In October of last year I had to throw away not one but TWO suitcases after one cracked and the other one got a busted zipper. I felt like a jerk because I didn't want to throw this giant plastic thing into a landfill and I also felt cheated because neither one was very old.
But they get punished at the airport. It's no surprise that things break when they get thrown around the way they do. Still, I decided I wanted to buy a couple replacements and be done buying suitcases...forever.
I ended up buying three suitcases with a lifetime warranty. Ideally that means I will never buy a suitcase again. I got Monos, Away (read my comparison), and Eagle Creek. I'm pleased with all of them, so I compiled a list of all the brands I know that provide a similar warranty.

Miles and Points Update
One of my favorite hotel cards is currently offering a 165,000 point signup bonus, which is more than I got when I signed up, when you spend $3000 within 3 months of account opening and it only has a $95 fee. That's enough for several nights in a pretty nice hotel! You also get automatic status, which helped us get a free upgrade at the Intercontinental in Singapore.
