Did You Know THIS About Spain?

Get to know Spain on a whole new level...
image

Hola España

Without hesitation, we'd say Spain is a must-visit European destination!

From the food, to the history, to the beaches, this country has something for everyone.

If you're looking for even more reasons to visit Spain, here are a few fun facts to seal the deal...

1. It shares a land border with Africa

Did you know that Spain shares a physical border with Morocco?!

But how?

There is a small Spanish outpost on the northern coast of Africa called Ceuta that borders Morocco and lies along the boundary of the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.

2. There are UNESCO sites aplenty

...to be exact, there are 47 UNESCO sites in Spain, ranking it third on a list of countries with the most UNESCO sites.

Pictured here is The Palace of Alhambra, one of the several UNESCO sites that you'll see while on our Spain trip!

3. It's home to the world's oldest restaurant

All you foodies, this one is for you. Sobrino de Botín in Madrid opened in 1725 and, according to the Guinness World Records, is the oldest restaurant in the world!

Bet you never thought you could dine at the same place as Mozart once did, huh?

4. You'll find tons of coastline

Not only does Spain have bustling cities, it also boasts almost 5,000 miles of coastline making it a great country to visit if you want to split your time between gazing at beautiful architecture and enjoying the sea breeze on the beach.

5. Siestas are a way of life

Something that may take a little getting used to is the countrywide lull between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm as most establishments close up for a little shut eye.

We suggest participating because in Spain dinner isn't served until 9:00 pm or later!

Pregnant for What Feels Like MA-TERNITY

Exactly four weeks until my due date (not that I'm counting) ;)

I shared a bit about some of my recent mental health struggles on IG stories (saved them in this highlight 2 weeks ago).

Pregnancy has been... hard. I know that everyone's experience is different but it's felt like an out-of-body experience for me. And not in the butterflies and rainbows kind of way.

I found a lot of comfort in hearing that many women also didn't love being pregnant. It's definitely amazing what our bodies are capable of.

But, for a lot of women, it's a lot of other things too—uncomfortable, painful, exhausting, and LONG—both mentally and physically.

All that said, I'm at the point where I'm at my limit.

So, I'm hoping to start scaling back on work over the next couple of weeks and prepare for the next chapter.

Send me strength for this final stretch!

My last solo trip for a while...

Hey fam,

I used to be extremely extroverted in my 20s. I'd get my energy from being around others, but somewhere along the past decade, that's changed completely and now I need to be alone, or just with a single other person, to recharge.

It's crazy how we change over our lives, isn't it?

Last week I headed out to the southern part of Idaho for what will likely be my last solo trip for a while, and I loved it specifically for all of the solitude it offered.

I didn't realize how many waterfalls, crystal clear springs, and gorges there would be. I've driven through before and all I saw was farmland, but I wasn't in the know back then.

Here's the YouTube video of my delightfully introverted trip there:

Special announcement: We've got 3 spaces left on our final BMTM Adventures women's tour of 2022, swimming with Humpback whales in French Polynesia! I will not personally be on this trip as I'll have a newborn, but you'll be with an amazing group of fellow female adventurers! Learn more and apply here.

Interested in hiking in Patagonia this year? I love Torres del Paine in Chile, but booking and planning the trip is no small, straightforward task. Let us help you. Learn more here.

Hope you enjoyed watching!

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!

Hugs,

Kristin
