Here's the low down on how we can help improve our planet's future...
Let's Talk about the New Climate Report Shooting it straight here, the new climate report released by the UN earlier this week was bleak. While a lot of damage done by humans, it's important to mention that there are still ways that we can help the situation not become the worst case scenario.
Here are a few ways we, as a travel community, can help:
Plant More Trees The world's food system — from farming to transportation to grocery store packaging — is a top cause of deforestation.
In order to help reduce global warming, conservationists are calling for the widespread restoration of forests, which absorb and store carbon from the atmosphere.
In an effort to prolong the health of our planet, we are always looking to add more sustainable activities to our itineraries, like planting trees in Iceland. We hope that our community will join un is this initiative!
Cut Carbon Emissions This is a community of world travelers. While we aren't asking you to cease flying, we can urge you to think about cutting carbon emissions before, during, and after your trip! When possible, opt to walk, ride a bike, or use public transportation to limit the amount of single-occupant vehicles on the road. You can also purchase carbon offsets to counteract the carbon emissions from your flights. Wanna take it a step further? Seek our carbon-negative establishments, like our eco-lodges in Costa Rica!
Eat for a Climate-Stable Environment At home or on trips, there are some easy changes that can help improve the current global warming forecast. Consider eating grass fed or pasture raised meats instead of factory farmed animals, growing your own produce, and reducing food waste. We always like to challenge our travelers to limit food waste. At the end of a recent four-day trip to Yosemite National Park, twelve travelers only accumulated 3.4 pounds of food waste!
