Welcome Love,
What's is the single most helpful thing I could provide to help you travel sooner? Serious question, feel free to reply and let me know.
Okay let's be real, there's one big thing about traveling solo that it's really hard to find any info on, and that hardly anyone talks about:
It can be freaking terrifying.
Traveling to someplace you've never been before, where you most likely don't know a soul, and where you'll be traveling to all by yourself, can understandably be nerve-wracking.
There are so many unknowns like, how will my friends and parents react? Is it safe? What about money? What about my good (insert: job, significant other, etc.)?
It's totally okay and normal to be worried about what you don't know yet. It's human nature, really.
The good news is that those fears often evaporate on the road. It's normally easier than we think, feels more natural than we expect, and is so exciting and pleasurable, those little things that go wrong are small in comparison to the joys.
You can also ease your fears by being really prepared. That doesn't mean that you have to plan out every single thing that you'll be doing every single day when you travel, it just means that by having all of your ducks in a row before you go, you can feel a lot better about heading off solo.
Here are a few posts on the blog to help ease your fears and get you excited about solo traveling:
- The solo female travel resources page
- Here's a book I wrote with everything I know on the topic of solo female travel
I hope that you can turn a little bit of that fear into excitement, and know that it may be with you at least in some form all the way up until you go. Just know that it will be worth it, and you can overshadow it with the exciting things about planning your trip, and that it doesn't have to and shouldn't stop you from living out your travel dreams.
If you need some inspo or want to connect on another medium, feel free to say hello on Instagram. It's where I put my best photos and share my thoughts. You can also connect with fellow solo female travelers in the facebook group!
Next we'll talk about how to pick out where you want to travel to and how to afford it!
See you tomorrow, girl!
Hugs,
Kristin
