The first time I used Airbnb was to book an apartment in Auckland when all of the hotels were crazy expensive back in 2013. Back then Airbnb was an amazing deal and I quickly became an enthusiast. Today I've probably stayed in well over 100 Airbnbs all over the world.
But I became frustrated with the excessive cleaning requirements, fees, and high price points that have started to accompany Airbnbs. Although I still think it's a great platform, I also think there's better now. I've started exploring a few alternatives, and put some favorites together:
